Melissa Geska, President
As company president, Melissa Geska takes a hands-on approach, helping oversee estimating, operations and project and business management. Melissa has emerged as an industry leader and was named one of Rochester Business Journal’s Women of Excellence in 2018, and shortlisted in 2018 and 2019 as an SBC Business Person of the Year finalist. Because of her tireless leadership, US Ceiling received NYS’ most prestigious honor for M/WBEs in 2018: the Carey Gabay Excellence and Innovation Award. As part of her commitment to her community, Melissa works closely with the Urban League of Rochester in support of their varied initiatives, as well as other local non-profit organizations that help support and empower women. She currently serves on the executive board of the Rochester Builder’s Exchange and the Al Sigl Foundation board of governors, and is the past president of the Greater Rochester Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction.
Ed Geska, Chief Operations Officer
In his long and storied career, Ed Geska has encountered almost every conceivable scenario that can occur on a job site. His experience and leadership, coupled with his extensive knowledge and keen eye for detail, makes him the best friend of every customer, general contractor, subcontractor, vendor and employee. As chief operations officer, Ed focuses on developing and delivering technology-driven business services and solutions, providing outstanding client service and driving profitable revenue growth. With his ability to quickly assess the scope of a project, submit a competitive bid and deliver on time and on budget, Ed ensures your experience matches our company’s promise to deliver excellence in everything we do.
Gary Black, Executive Vice President
With an ever-growing list of jobs and manpower, it was apparent that US Ceiling needed a dedicated, direct, knowledgeable and experienced champion of excellence, accuracy and safety. Gary Black meets each of those needs and then some. With decades of experience as a subcontractor and self-performer on projects of nearly all scopes, Gary brings his tremendous experience and attention to detail to the team. His contribution has been immediate and immense.
Michael Johnston, Vice President of Operations
Michael Johnston has more than 15 years construction industry experience, including roles in field management, specialty product installation, project management and estimating. He brings to the team an incredible attention to detail with big picture perspective. He is committed to and driven by excellence, and learning new and better ways to improve on our productivity, efficiency and quality. Michael continually strives to provide an exceptional customer experience as US Ceiling delivers on our project commitments.
Sherry Jackson, Director of Marketing & Business Development
Sherry Jackson’s decades-long career has been characterized by professional excellence and high-quality work. She is a results-driven leader and proven relationship builder with a keen ability to strategize, streamline and effectively deliver. In her role as director of marketing and business development, Sherry develops strategies, tools and tactics to expand US Ceiling’s business in its key markets. She leads the business development, marketing, branding, social media, advertising and communications efforts, focusing on growing brand awareness and enhancing employee and customer engagement.
Patti Wirth, Controller
Patti Wirth is a senior accounting professional who brings aboard her ability to successfully resolve the most difficult tasks with ease. Her years of accounting experience within the construction industry immediately made her a valued and productive member of the team. Patti holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Rochester Institute of Technology and has earned the prestigious Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) designation. She is a board member of the CFMA Rochester Chapter and the Ontario County Planning Board. In her spare time, she also volunteers for Habitat for Humanity.
Casey Johnson, Safety Coordinator
As safety coordinator for US Ceiling, Casey Johnson strives to set standards that ensure safe working conditions for our employees. From supervising activities and inspecting equipment and property to identifying strategies and implementing procedures to prevent future accidents, Casey’s drive, curiosity and expertise make him a tremendous asset to our team. After all, when we say, “Safety first,” we truly mean it.
Riley Emmerson, Project Manager & Estimator
After gaining valuable field experience as a union carpenter apprentice, a passion for a secure, clean work site, proper sequencing and scheduling, and bidding work is what ultimately led Riley Emmerson to make the switch to project management and estimating. He brings his tremendous work ethic to every initiative, demonstrating his value to our company and our clients.
Laura West, USC Academy Program Director
Laura West brings a multitude of disciplines to our talented team. Her extensive knowledge of marketing, strategic planning and program development makes her the perfect person to oversee our USC Academy initiative, an internal training program designed to bolster the skills of our existing workforce, as well as partner with community groups that support diversity and the development and increase of skilled tradespeople. Laura is a founding member of Rochester’s Business Hall of Fame, a recent past Habitat for Humanity board member and United Way volunteer. She currently serves on the board for the American Red Cross and is also a licensed real estate professional.
Jon Pier, Purchasing Manager
Thirty years in the construction industry have given Jon Pier an opportunity to be employed in many roles. From truck driver to heavy equipment operator, tool and inventory management, and purchasing, Jon has walked a mile in many shoes. He harnesses that experience to develop smart workflows that allow for anticipatory ordering and fulfillment. With Jon on board, US Ceiling can sleep well at night knowing that the critical functions of ordering product, material and tools are successfully handled.
Donna Barton, Project Administrator
With a broad expanse and acute depth, Donna Barton’s career has aligned in such a way that provides her with the ability to supply insight in critical moments, preventing oversights that could lead to cost overrun or improper reporting. Donna is US Ceiling’s go-to for timely and accurate project paperwork. If you are a GC or owner, she will very quickly become the point of contact you can count on.
Amber Johnson, Office Manager
When it comes to multi-tasking, Amber Johnson is US Ceiling’s resident “Queen of Controlled Chaos.” From “womaning” our front reception area by fielding calls and greeting visitors to assisting with payroll, government reporting and various other administrative duties, her decade of extensive experience allows her to seamlessly handle everything. Amber also coordinates our company events and makes sure our office runs like a well-oiled machine.
